The Royal Jubilee

Updated: Jul 21, 2022

Ilfracombe Yacht Club celebrated the Platinum Jubilee in style!

IYC kicked off the party on Thursday when the much loved duo, Garry and Chris aka the BODSTONE BOYS performed. A few - well 50 actually - bowls of chilli con carne were enjoyed by many, leading onto a very merry evening, going on into the early hours. Friday night saw the incredible ANCHORS AWEIGH shanty singers give one almighty performance, finishing with the whole club on their feet, flag waving to a spine tingling rendition of God Save the Queen. These amazing people give their time and energy for free in return for donations to their chosen charity. I'm super delighted to announce that a fantastic £175 was collected during their performance! We carried on the celebrations by firing up the BBQ Saturday night, and the weather was kind to us. The ever popular Charmaine Lilley and Nicky Cooper, the gorgeous COVER GIRLS, belted out their singalong songs while many of you munched on burgers and sausages. Things calmed down a little on Sunday afternoon with a delicious traditional afternoon tea. As the rain poured down, many members enjoyed sweet and savoury treats washed down with pots of tea (and the odd bottle of prosecco was seen!) Over this busiest of weekends some IYC members went above and beyond, so huge thanks to those people for their time and energy in helping to make the magic happen - they know who they are!
